Helicopter maintenance platforms (also known as maintenance stands) are designed to allow a helicopter mechanic to access to an aircraft’s maintenance areas. In some, but not all, instances, the helicopter maintenance platform can be used on more than one type of helicopter. The ability to use on multiple aircraft will have to do with the model platform and the model aircraft; but, the most important thing to consider is whether or not the stand is rated (by OSHA, for example) to work with the type of aircraft with which one plans using it.

In addition to varying between models of stand and aircraft, helicopter maintenance platforms come in a variety of styles based on the needs of the user. For example, if one plans on doing multi-person fixes it may be necessary to use a stand with a wider and larger platform.

Before purchasing your helicopter maintenance platforms you want to make a few choices. The first choice, perhaps, is whether to buy aluminum or steel. Aluminum (or aluminum) is a lighter weight metal than steel and is often better if the jobs are smaller or one person crew will be moving the stand around for maintenance.
